JOIN US FOR WORSHIP AT THE CONGREGATIONAL CHURCH OF WESTON, UCC!
All are welcome to worship with us on Sunday mornings at the Congregational Church of Weston, UCC at 10:30 a.m. The fall worship season will begin this Sunday, September 12, with a service of Holy Communion led by the pastor and teacher, Reverend Dr. Philip Joseph Mayher. The theme of Reverend Mayherıs sermon, which will be based on Psalm 139: 1-8, is ³Awesomely Created.² The choir will sing under the direction of Music Director Samuel Martinborough assisted by Organist Alexander Lane.
Children from Kindergarten through 8th grade are invited to participate in our Faith Discovery Program, which takes place at the same time as the worship service. As on most Sundays the program will start off with a Time for Children in the worship service. This week the Time for Children will be followed by a fun-filled period in a one-room schoolhouse-style learning adventure where we'll re-acquaint ourselves with where things are in the Bible using games and songs. In addition, we'll create our classroom covenants, take a peek at some of the stories in the lessons for the coming months and create Prayer Dials. Childcare is provided for preschool children and infants.
On the following Sunday, September 19, students will meet in separate grade based groups. Kindergarteners through 2nd graders become ³Pathfinders² and begin their adventure using the Montessori-based Godly Play curriculum. Our 3rd through 5th graders become ³Lighthouse Keepers,² and our 6th through 8th graders become ³Explorers² as they grow in their understanding of Godıs love for them and for the world around them using the Seasons of the Spirit curriculum. Through a variety of developmentally appropriate and kid-centered approaches, including a 3-week Workshop Rotation in the spring, our children learn the stories of our faith; learn to connect the lessons of the bible to their everyday lives, and to express their faith in word and deed.
The churchıs Faith Discovery program also sponsors a Youth Group for High School aged students and another for those in Middle School. Each of these groups meets periodically for a variety of fellowship and service projects.
